Feast

Program notes

Cena Trimalchionis, Trimalchio’s dinner, is a section of the fictional novel Satyricon, believed to be written by Gaius Petronius in early Roman Empire some 2000 years ago. The work describes a dinner party hosted by Trimalchio, a man of enormous wealth and personality. The party very soon takes grotesque and absurd turns.

Feast for solo accordion is inspired by this story from roman era, embracing its timelessness in a way that allows the performer and audience to reflect the topic through their own experiences in our time. It is a party of never-ending grandioso speeches, disputes, cheers, denunciation, euphoria, love, and above all a celebration of playing a musical instrument!
